The Engineering Choice: 304L vs. 316L
While 316L is the “gold standard” for open ocean environments, it shares much of its DNA with 304L. Both are austenitic alloys with a “Low Carbon” (L) profile to prevent carbide precipitation during TIG welding.

Absolutely not. Steel wool leaves carbon steel particles that cause bleeding rust. Use synthetic pads or microfiber cloths.
